There are six free Fortnite skins you can claim in October 2026 without spending anything: Jack-A-Nape, Pixel Polli, Explorer Emilie, Mr. Dappermint, Trailblazer Tai, and Yeddy. Jack-A-Nape is the newest of them, as Epic Games added it with the Fortnitemares event on October 1, 2026.
Some of these skins require a simple account linking procedure, which takes only a minute or two. Others require competing, levelling up, or even getting other video games. Several skins advertised as free also need a gift card, a full-price game, or a paid subscription, so we list those separately.
Sorting them by what they actually cost is the fastest way to work out which ones are worth your time. So here is every free Fortnite skin available in October 2026, what each one genuinely requires, and exactly when each skin expires. We last checked every offer in this guide on October 6, 2026.

Which free Fortnite skins should you claim first?
Deadlines and effort differ a lot between these rewards, so this is the order we recommend:
- Jack-A-Nape: Its quests arrive in weekly batches until Fortnitemares ends on November 1, 2026, so it cannot be rushed at the last minute.
- Pixel Polli: Mastering 28 Sprites takes weeks of matches, and the track closes with the season on November 1, 2026.
- Gold Punk: It only makes sense if you are buying a Fortnite Gift Card anyway, and the card has to be redeemed by October 31, 2026.
- Explorer Emilie, Mr. Dappermint, and Trailblazer Tai: There is no deadline, but all three take only a few minutes, so there is no reason to wait.
What counts as a free Fortnite skin
The word free covers five very different situations in Fortnite, and the gap between them is massive. While some skins are genuinely free and only require you to link your accounts, some require Epic Games purchases that can cost more than $60. Because of this, we split free skins into different categories.
| Category | What it actually costs | Example |
|---|---|---|
| No cost | Account linking, XP, quests, or Sprites | Explorer Emilie |
| Purchase-gated | A full-price game or gift card on the Epic Games Store | Dr. Eggman |
| Subscription-gated | A paid monthly subscription | Osric the Uninvited |
| Skill-gated | A top placement in a tournament | Odysseus |
| Access-gated | Travel, a specific carrier, or a specific region | Forsworn Trooper |
Strictly speaking, a new Fortnite player can claim six skins in October 2026 without spending anything. Two more, Gold Punk and GHOST Monks, cost money, but they’re tied to a gift card, which means you can use its balance for other cosmetics. Every other skin on this page carries a real price tag, a skill requirement, or a regional lock.
How to get free Fortnite skins with no purchase
This section of our guide lists all Fortnite skins that are genuinely free. Obtaining the account-link skins takes only a couple of minutes, while the seasonal ones need a few weeks of play.
Jack-A-Nape

Jack-A-Nape is the newest addition to our list of free Fortnite skins, as it arrived with Fortnitemares 2026 and the Fortnite v42.30 update on October 1, 2026. The outfit is the final reward on the event’s quest track, and it unlocks once you complete 26 Fortnitemares quests.
The quests are spread across Battle Royale, Zero Build, Reload, and Horde Rush, and progress carries over between the modes. However, Epic releases them in batches. Seven quests were available at launch, and new ones arrive every Thursday, so it’s not possible to unlock the skin in a single session.
These are the steps you need to take to unlock the free Fortnite skin:
- Open the Quests tab and select the Fortnitemares category.
- Complete the available quests in Battle Royale, Zero Build, Reload, or Horde Rush.
- Return every Thursday for the next batch until you reach 26 completed quests.
In addition to the skin, the track hands out seven smaller rewards on the way, including the Wind-Up Key Back Bling at eight quests and Jack’s Tambourine Pickaxe at 20. None of them require V-Bucks, and each quest also pays 15,000 XP at the time of writing.
Fortnitemares runs until November 1, 2026, and the quests leave with it. As new batches keep arriving through October, we recommend completing each one in the week it lands and finishing everything by October 31.
Pixel Polli

Pixel Polli joined our list of free Fortnite skins in September, as Epic added it with the v42.20 update on September 17, 2026. The outfit doesn’t require account linking or any kind of purchase. Instead, Pixel Polli is the top reward on the Sprite Mastery track, and it unlocks once you master 28 Sprites.
To master a Sprite, you need to raise it to level five and extract it. Mastery is permanent, so it stays on your account even if that Sprite’s level resets in a later match. Sprites of any rarity count toward the 28, and levelling one to level five usually takes two to three full matches.
In addition to Pixel Polli, extracting 30 Sprites unlocks the free Pixel Sprite Trainer Back Bling, so you can work on both rewards at the same time. These are the fastest ways to level up Sprites in Fortnite:
- Equip the Sprite you want to level before each match
- Open as many chests as possible, especially at Sunken Shores
- Extract every duplicate Sprite, as each one gives XP to the Sprite you already own
- Play during Sprite Events, which boost Sprite XP and Sprite Dust
Pixel Polli can be unlocked until Chapter 7 Season 4 ends, which is set for November 1, 2026. It’s important to note that Epic hasn’t confirmed whether the skin will reach the Item Shop afterwards. As mastering 28 Sprites can take several weeks for casual players, we recommend starting the grind as soon as possible.
Sprites first appeared in Chapter 6 Season 1, but Epic brought them back as collectible, Pokemon-like companions in Chapter 7 Season 3. Rare Sprites quickly became valuable enough to spark a real-money eBay market for Fortnite Sprites, which Epic says breaks its rules. Pixel Polli gives players a legitimate reward for collecting them instead.
Explorer Emilie and Mr. Dappermint

Linking a LEGO Insiders account to an Epic Games account drops both skins into your locker, each with a Fortnite style and a LEGO style. LEGO Insiders is free to join, and the whole process takes about two minutes.
To unlock these skins, follow a couple of easy steps:
- Sign in at epicgames.com
- Scroll to Apps and Accounts
- Select Connect on the LEGO option
- Log in with your LEGO Insiders account and approve the connection
Both skins appear after your next Fortnite launch, though Epic notes the grant can take a few hours to reach your locker. Epic lists the offer as unavailable in seven countries, including Russia and China.
There is no announced end date on this promotion, which has been running since December 2023, with Mr. Dappermint added in December 2024. That makes it the most reliable free skin route in the game, and it’s especially good for new players. Considering that these skins have been available for years, it’s unlikely that Epic will remove them anytime soon.
Trailblazer Tai

Trailblazer Tai is the third free LEGO skin, and it doesn’t need a LEGO account at all. Instead, it comes from the True Explorers Quest Pack, which is listed in the Item Shop for free. The pack also includes the Skullder Back Bling, and the outfit has both a Fortnite style and a LEGO style.
These are the steps you need:
- Open the Item Shop and find the True Explorers Quest Pack.
- Claim the pack (it costs $0)
- Launch LEGO Fortnite and complete the Trailblazer Tai Quests that come with it.
The pack has been around since LEGO Fortnite launched in December 2023, and Epic has not announced an end date for it. It was still listed for free in the Item Shop on October 6, 2026.
Free Yeddy skin in Fortnite
Epic has run several mobile-exclusive outfits under the Yeddy name, each tied to a short quest chain that only appears in Fortnite’s mobile app. The original arrived in March 2026 to mark the game’s return to the Google Play Store.
Requirements have varied between variants. Some asked for an Invite a Friend action plus a single account level. Others required gaining a level while partied with a friend. Both were visible only in the Quests tab on a mobile device. In case you need to gain levels to unlock this skin, you can use some of the best XP maps in Fortnite to do it quickly.

At the time of writing, the quest on offer is the original one. You need to tap the Invite a Friend button in the mobile app, send an invite, and gain one account level. Epic hasn’t published a closing date, but the quest is currently listed as ending on December 4, 2026.
Open the Fortnite mobile app and check the Quests tab before planning around this one, as the campaigns rotate and Epic rarely announces the closing date in advance. Android has the widest availability, giving almost everyone a chance to grab the free Fortnite skin. iOS access depends on your region, and if you are unable to get the game on your Apple device, you won’t be able to add Yeddy to your locker.
Once it’s unlocked, Yeddy is available on every platform linked to the same Epic account, as Fortnite crossplay and cross-progression carry your Locker everywhere you play. That means you only need a mobile device for the quest itself.
How to get free Fortnite skins with a Fortnite Gift Card
Two skins are currently tied to Fortnite Gift Cards. Neither is free in the strict sense, as you need to buy a card first, but the money stays on your Epic account as balance that you can spend on V-Bucks or games.
Gold Punk
Gold Punk is the Halloween gift card offer. From October 2 to October 31, 2026, redeeming a Fortnite Gift Card on your Epic account adds the Gold Punk Outfit to your locker automatically. Epic grants it once per account, and digital cards count as well.

It’s important to note that V-Bucks cards do not qualify. According to Epic’s, only cards sold as Fortnite Gift Cards count, and you need to be in a territory where they are sold. To claim the skin, sign in at epicgames.com/redeem, enter the code from your card, and select Redeem.
Epic treats Gold Punk and GHOST Monks as separate offers, so a first-time redemption in October should meet the conditions for both. At the time of writing, Epic hasn’t confirmed that a single card grants the two skins together.
GHOST Monks and the gift card
The first time you redeem one of the new Fortnite gift cards on your Epic account, GHOST Monks will be added to your locker. The offer closes on December 31, 2026. This offer is only valid for a new Fortnite gift card and only works in regions where the new cards are actually sold.

The new cards launched across a limited group of countries and are still rolling out, so players outside those markets cannot trigger the reward no matter which retailer they use. Furthermore, there is no extra reward for redeeming older V-Bucks cards.
Epic has said GHOST Monks may reach the Shop as a paid item after December 31, 2026.
How to get free Fortnite skins from Epic Games Store purchases
Epic has begun attaching Fortnite skins to Epic Games Store game purchases. The skins cost no extra money, though the games they come with are full price. This is part of a plan to launch over 100 new gaming Fortnite crossovers every year, and so far, it’s worked out very well for the company.
These are the 17 bonus skins you can currently get with Epic Games Store purchases:
| Skin | Game purchase |
|---|---|
| Cel | End of Abyss |
| Dr. Eggman | Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds |
| Dylan Faden | Control Resonant |
| Adam Smasher | Cyberpunk 2077 |
| Grace Ashcroft | Resident Evil Requiem |
| Kliff | Crimson Desert |
| Perlica | Arknights: Endfield |
| Soul | Phantom Blade Zero |
| The Traveler | Cronos: The New Dawn |
| Coach Gabi | Rematch |
| Dave the Diver | Dave the Diver |
| Fernet | Kernel Hearts |
| Hiroshi Jackson | Screamer |
| Walter Irons | John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando |
| Goal Getter | GOALS |
| Stellaron Hunter Blade | Honkai: Star Rail |
| Excalibur | Warframe |

Every skin in the table can be claimed now. Soul is the only one attached to a game that hasn’t launched, as Phantom Blade Zero releases on October 29, 2026, and a pre-purchase already grants the outfit. Regular prices range from $19.99 for Dave the Diver to $69.99 for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds.
These bonuses run through the Epic Games Store only. Buying the same title on Steam, PlayStation, or Xbox grants nothing, and refunding the purchase removes the cosmetic from your locker afterwards.
Epic’s gift with purchase page lists the eligible products, and its terms say each offer lasts for as long as the game is sold on the Epic Games Store. If you already own the skin, Epic grants V-Bucks instead, which is 1,500 V-Bucks in the case of Cel.
How to get free Fortnite skins from subscriptions and the Battle Pass
Subscription skins are often advertised as free, but they need a paid membership, so we keep them apart from the genuinely free ones. These are the skins currently included with a subscription or a Battle Pass gift:
| Skin | What you need | Available until |
|---|---|---|
| Osric the Uninvited | Fortnite Crew, which costs $11.99 a month and is included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | The next Crew Pack replaces it |
| Pond Guardian Froggory | A PlayStation Plus membership and the Pond Protector Pack from the PlayStation Store | No announced end date |
| Peril Peak Mali | Gifting the Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Pass to a friend | November 1, 2026 |
Osric the Uninvited is the October 2026 Crew Pack skin, and it comes with the Revenant’s Coffin Back Bling and Soulspark Lantern Pickaxe. Peril Peak Mali works differently, as gifting the Battle Pass unlocks the outfit for both players. That means the friend who receives the gift gets the skin without paying anything.
How to get free Fortnite skins from tournaments in Fortnite
Many big collaborations come with their own tournaments, allowing you to unlock skins by competing against others. Tournaments are generally split into regular and mobile-only tournaments, with a few thousand players winning the skin and other cosmetics. These skins usually get a cup a day or two before the outfit reaches the Item Shop.
In general, players from bigger regions get more rewards. For example, players from Europe may get 500 skins, while those from Oceania only get 50. Fortunately, you may freely change your region and compete on other servers in an attempt to unlock a free Fortnite skin.

The good news is that, even if you don’t unlock a skin, you can easily get a consolation prize. In general, Fortnite cups allow you to unlock a free item once you earn eight points, which can be done in a couple of matches.
Epic had not announced a collaboration cup with a skin for October when we last checked on October 6, 2026. It usually reveals these cups only a few days in advance, so keep an eye on the Compete tab. To enter one, you need an account at level 50 or above with two-factor authentication enabled.
The rarest free Fortnite skin right now
The Forsworn Trooper is free in the sense that it costs no V-Bucks. However, it’s nearly impossible to obtain.

To unlock Forsworn Trooper, you need to physically ride the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run attraction at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim or Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Florida. Another requirement is having linked MyDisney and Epic accounts and accepting Hondo’s mission in the parks app beforehand.
The account link is worth doing even without a park visit. Linking your MyDisney and Epic accounts by October 31, 2026 unlocks the free Carbonite Fishstick Back Bling, although it’s a Back Bling and not a skin.
Are there any free Fortnite skin codes?
There are no public free Fortnite skin codes in October 2026. Epic has not issued a reusable redeem code for a skin this year, and the codes that do unlock outfits are single-use ones that come with a purchase, such as Fortnite Gift Cards and retail bundles.
The codes players share this season are Lobby Hack codes, which are entered through the Admin Panel in the lobby. They are real and free, but they grant XP, Sprite Dust, Sprites, and small cosmetics such as loading screens. None of them unlocks a full outfit, and creator codes and island codes don’t add skins to your locker either.
Fortnite skin generators are not real. Every legitimate free skin comes through Fortnite, Epic Games, an official platform store, an official partner promotion, or an official tournament. Skin generators, unlimited V-Bucks sites, skin unlockers, survey pages, browser extensions, and any site asking for your Epic password are scams.
While you work on these rewards, our list of the top 20 rarest Fortnite skins shows which outfits are the hardest to find in the game. In addition to that, you can check how much your Fortnite account is worth once the new skins are in your Locker.
