Epic Games brings back older Fortnite skins all the time, and even ones that were missing for years regularly show up in the Item Shop again. However, a small group of skins has now been gone for more than four and a half years, and the rarest of them hasn’t been sold since September 2018.

This guide ranks the rarest Fortnite skins by how long they have been absent from the Item Shop as of September 23, 2026. It isn’t about Battle Pass exclusives, account value, or how many players own each skin. Considering that Epic can bring most Item Shop cosmetics back without warning, the ranking can change with any shop rotation.

The rarest Fortnite shop skins of all time

To make this list, a skin has to be an outfit that was sold for V-Bucks in the regular Item Shop at least once. Battle Pass skins, promotional skins that were never sold, and real-money offers such as Starter Packs aren’t included, as they don’t follow the regular Item Shop cycle. Reflex still qualifies, as it started as a promotional skin but was later sold for V-Bucks.

Sets where several team outfits left the shop on the same day, such as the NFL and Ghostbusters skins, share a single spot. Travis Scott and Astro Jack get separate entries, as they are two different outfits with different prices.

Here are the 20 Fortnite skins that haven’t returned to the Item Shop for the longest time:

Rank	Skin	Last seen (date)	Last seen (days ago)
1	Rogue Agent	September 15, 2018	2,929
2	Reflex	March 4, 2019	2,759

4	Shaman	December 2, 2019	2,486
5	NFL skins (Fourth Down set)	February 3, 2020	2,423
6	Travis Scott	April 27, 2020	2,339
7	Astro Jack	April 27, 2020	2,339
8	Rue	May 27, 2020	2,309
9	Kratos	March 19, 2021	2,013
10	Sofia	March 25, 2021	2,007
11	The Champion	May 31, 2021	1,940

The 20 rarest Fortnite skins, ranked by Item Shop absence

20. FNCS 3:1 Champion

• Last seen: March 7, 2022
• Released: March 3, 2022 (Chapter 3 Season 1)
• Price: 800 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: five days

The FNCS 3:1 Champion was the FNCS skin for Chapter 3 Season 1, which is where the “3:1” in its name comes from. Like the other competitive outfits from that period, it was sold for five days, from March 3 to March 7, 2022, and it hasn’t been seen since.

However, FNCS outfits aren’t locked away for good. Dummy Supreme and Championship Aura returned on May 30, 2026, after more than three years, while Champion Kyra and Cosmic Infinity were in the Item Shop on September 21 and 22, 2026. Considering that, we wouldn’t be surprised if the older FNCS skins eventually get the same treatment, although Epic hasn’t announced anything.

19. NBA 75 skins

• Last seen: February 23, 2022 (1,672 days ago)
• Released: February 16, 2022 (Chapter 3 Season 1)
• Price: 800 V-Bucks each
• Time in the Item Shop: eight days
• Set: NBA 75 (10 skins)

The NBA 75 set celebrated the league’s 75th anniversary season with 10 skins, from NBA 75 Fit to NBA 75 High-Flyer. The collab dropped on February 16, 2022, right before All-Star Weekend in Cleveland, and the whole set left the Item Shop a week later. That single eight-day run is the only time these skins were available.

The NBA 75 skins also had a much shorter run than Fortnite’s earlier NBA collab. The In The Paint set, which has 10 NBA skins as well, appeared on 29 days between May 2021 and December 27, 2022.

18. Ghostbusters skins

• Last seen: December 1, 2021
• Released: October 25, 2020 (Chapter 2 Season 4)
• Price: 800 V-Bucks each
• Time in the Item Shop: 21 days
• Set: Ghostbusters (10 skins)

The Ghostbusters collab arrived during Fortnitemares 2020 with 10 original Ghostbusters crew members, including P.K.E. Ranger, Ecto Expert, Spirit Sniper, and Curse Buster. Epic went with new characters instead of recreating the movie cast, and each outfit cost 800 V-Bucks.

The set came back from November 19 to December 1, 2021, lining up with the release of Ghostbusters: Afterlife, which was the last time any of the outfits were sold.

17. Victor Elite

• Last seen: November 22, 2021
• Released: November 18, 2021 (Chapter 2 Season 8)
• Price: 800 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: five days

Victor Elite was the FNCS skin for Chapter 2 Season 8, and it followed the same formula as the other FNCS outfits from that era. It hit the Item Shop on November 18, 2021, stayed for five days, and never returned.

The Victory Crest back bling and the In Btwn lobby track had the exact same run. Victor Elite is also one of three Chapter 2 FNCS outfits on this list, along with Major Glory and The Champion, and all three were sold only once.

16. Kelsier

• Last seen: November 7, 2021
• Released: May 28, 2021 (Chapter 2 Season 6)
• Price: 1,600 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: 11 days

The Kelsier collab arrived on May 28, 2021, during Chapter 2 Season 6. His shop history is unusual. After a six-day launch run, the skin returned for single days on July 1, July 31, September 7, October 8, and November 7, 2021, roughly once a month, and then the pattern simply stopped.

There is no known reason why Kelsier stopped appearing, and Epic hasn’t commented on it.

15. Mike Lowrey

• Last seen: September 29, 2021
• Released: August 29, 2021 (Chapter 2 Season 7)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: 10 days

Mike Lowrey is Will Smith’s character from the Bad Boys movies, and he arrived in Fortnite on August 29, 2021, along with the Detective’s Duffle back bling and Loose Cannon Cutters pickaxe. Martin Lawrence’s Marcus Burnett never joined him, so the set has only one outfit.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die came out in June 2024, but it wasn’t enough to bring the skin back to the Item Shop.

14. Kickoff football club skins

• Last seen: September 27, 2021
• Released: January 24, 2021 (Chapter 2 Season 5)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks each
• Time in the Item Shop: 12 days
• Set: Kickoff (10 skins)

The Kickoff set brought real football club kits to Fortnite in January 2021. Its 10 skins, including Midfield Master, Galactico, Striker Specialist, and Shot Stopper, came with styles for 23 licensed clubs such as Manchester City and Juventus, and the launch was paired with the Pele Cup tournament.

The skins appeared from January 24 to January 31, on May 8 and 9, and on September 26 and 27, 2021, but they haven’t been sold since. Considering that each outfit carries kits from 23 different clubs, licensing could be the complication, but that’s only our speculation.

13. Major Glory

• Last seen: September 6, 2021
• Released: September 2, 2021 (Chapter 2 Season 7)
• Price: 800 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: five days

Major Glory is the FNCS skin from Chapter 2 Season 7, which was the alien invasion season. It was sold from September 2 to September 6, 2021, and those five days are its entire shop history.

The FNCS Holoflair back bling and Dream Runner lobby track also left on September 6. That makes Major Glory the first skin on this list to pass five full years without an Item Shop appearance.

12. Snake Eyes

• Last seen: August 11, 2021
• Released: January 31, 2021 (Chapter 2 Season 5)
• Price: 1,800 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: 50 days

Snake Eyes is the odd one out on this list, as no other skin here spent more time in the Item Shop. The G.I. Joe ninja arrived on January 31, 2021, and appeared across three separate runs before disappearing. The final run lasted from July 22 to August 11, 2021, lining up with the release of Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins on July 23.

After that, the skin was gone, as Epic likely treated the movie release as the end of the promotion.

11. The Champion

• Last seen: May 31, 2021
• Released: May 27, 2021 (Chapter 2 Season 6)
• Price: 800 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: five days

The Champion is the oldest FNCS outfit that has never returned to the Item Shop. It was released for Chapter 2 Season 6 on May 27, 2021, and it was gone by May 31. It’s important to note that the outfit has a LEGO style, which shows Epic has updated it in the LEGO Fortnite era. That doesn’t guarantee a return, but it means the skin hasn’t been completely left behind.

With Dummy Supreme and Championship Aura already back after long absences, The Champion would be one of the more likely FNCS skins to follow.

10. Sofia

• Last seen: March 25, 2021
• Released: June 28, 2019 (Chapter 1 Season 9)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: 13 days

Sofia is based on Halle Berry’s character from the third John Wick movie, Parabellum, and she joined the John Wick set on June 28, 2019. She returned in December 2019, October 2020, and March 2021, before disappearing after March 25, 2021.

The contrast with John Wick himself is huge. The John Wick outfit has 68 Item Shop days, and it was most recently sold from December 29, 2025, to January 1, 2026. Most of his set returned with him, while the Gun Bag back bling stayed out alongside Sofia.

Fortnite’s files also received several new John Wick items in June 2026, including a Wick’s Axe back bling and pickaxe, although none of them have been sold yet. This suggests the collab is still active, but there is no sign that Sofia’s Item Shop return is part of those plans.

9. Kratos

• Last seen: March 19, 2021
• Released: December 4, 2020 (Chapter 2 Season 5)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: 33 days

Kratos arrived on December 4, 2020, as one of the first Gaming Legends Series outfits, and Master Chief followed a week later. Since then, their paths couldn’t be more different. Master Chief has 106 Item Shop days and was last sold from August 29 to August 31, 2026. Meanwhile, Kratos hasn’t been seen since March 19, 2021.

Kratos also skipped several moments that looked perfect for a return, including the launch of God of War Ragnarok in November 2022, its PC release in September 2024, and Fortnite’s Greek mythology season in Chapter 5 Season 2. Due to this, it’s almost impossible to guess when the legendary gaming character will return.

8. Rue

• Last seen: May 27, 2020
• Released: April 25, 2020 (Chapter 2 Season 2)
• Price: 1,200 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: two days

Rue has one of the thinnest shop histories on this list. She was released on April 25, 2020, appeared again on May 27, and hasn’t been sold since. Rue is also the most controversial skin here, as some players compared her outfit to a Nazi uniform. This comparison comes mainly because of the skull insignia on her armband and the belt across her chest.

Rue did get a LEGO style with the v29.20 update in August 2024, and her Thorn pickaxe returned to the Item Shop on September 14, 2025. However, the skin and her matching outfit are still missing.

7. Astro Jack

• Last seen: April 27, 2020
• Released: April 22, 2020 (Chapter 2 Season 2)
• Price: 2,000 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: six days

Astro Jack is tied with Travis Scott, as both outfits left the Item Shop on April 27, 2020. It’s the astronaut version of Travis Scott from the Astronomical concert, and at 2,000 V-Bucks, it was the most expensive outfit in the collab. The set was also sold through the Astronomical Bundle for 2,500 V-Bucks.

Not every item from the set was sold in the Item Shop in the first place. The Astroworld Cyclone glider and the Rage emote have no Item Shop history at all, while the Diamond Jack pickaxe, Head Banger emote, and Goosebumps wrap were sold on the same six days as the outfits.

6. Travis Scott

• Last seen: April 27, 2020
• Released: April 22, 2020 (Chapter 2 Season 2)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: six days

The Travis Scott skin arrived on April 22, 2020, one day before Astronomical, the in-game concert that ran from April 23 to April 25. According to Epic, more than 12.3 million concurrent players attended live, which was an all-time record for the game at the time, and 27.7 million unique players took part across all showings.

Rumors of an official permanent ban for the skin turned out to be fake, as they came from someone impersonating Tim Sweeney on YouTube. The Epic Games CEO confirmed that Travis Scott is welcome to return to Fortnite.

5. NFL skins (Fourth Down set)

• Last seen: February 3, 2020
• Released: November 10, 2018 (Chapter 1 Season 6)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks each
• Time in the Item Shop: 13 days
• Set: Fourth Down (eight skins)

Eight NFL outfits arrived on November 10, 2018, and each of them came with styles for all 32 NFL teams. After the launch run, they returned around Super Bowl LIII in February 2019, at the start of the 2019 season in September, and around Super Bowl LIV, with the final day on February 3, 2020.

The strange part is that the rest of the Fourth Down set kept coming back. The Golden Pigskin and First Downer pickaxes returned in February 2023, while the Touchdown glider and Upright Axe pickaxe were in the Item Shop as recently as February 9, 2026, right after Super Bowl LX.

4. Shaman

• Last seen: December 2, 2019
• Released: March 31, 2019 (Chapter 1 Season 8)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: four days

Shaman is the most surprising skin on this list. It isn’t a collab, it isn’t tied to an event, and there is no known controversy around it, yet it has been missing from the Item Shop for more than six and a half years. Shaman was released on March 31, 2019, and appeared on only four days: March 31, April 1, July 14, and December 2, 2019.

The other skin from the Moonbone set, Nightwitch, was sold as recently as June 3, 2023, and the Moonbone pickaxe returned on May 24, 2025. With Nightwitch and the pickaxe still rotating, there is no obvious reason why Shaman stays out. Epic has never commented on it, which makes Shaman one of the longest unexplained absences in the Item Shop.

3. World Warrior

• Last seen: July 28, 2019
• Released: July 26, 2019 (Chapter 1 Season 9)
• Price: 800 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: three days

World Warrior was made for the 2019 Fortnite World Cup. It went on sale on July 26, 2019, and left on July 28, the same day Bugha won the Solo Finals and $3 million. The World Cup 2019 wrap and banner were sold on the same three days, and the Kiss the Cup emote hasn’t been in the Item Shop since then either.

Considering that Epic cancelled the 2020 World Cup, the skin never got another event to return with. There is no official statement saying World Warrior can never come back, although we expect it to return for the next groundbreaking competitive event.

2. Reflex

• Last seen: March 4, 2019
• Released: Late 2018 in an Nvidia bundle, Item Shop debut on March 3, 2019
• Price: 1,200 V-Bucks
• Time in the Item Shop: two days

Reflex is the exceptional case on this list. It started as an exclusive skin for owners of a new NVIDIA graphics card. It also included 2,000 V-Bucks, and many players who got it that way saw it as a hardware exclusive. That changed shortly after Chapter 1 Season 8 launched, as Reflex appeared in the Item Shop for 1,200 V-Bucks. Original bundle owners pushed back, and in April 2019, Epic gave GeForce bundle owners a separate Stealth Reflex variant.

Reflex hasn’t been sold since, but the rest of the Counterattack set didn’t vanish with it. Instinct, the Reaction Tank back bling, and the Angular Axe pickaxe were all in the Item Shop on March 13, 2026. Whether Epic planned the March 2019 listing is still unclear, so a return remains a big question mark.

1. Rogue Agent

• Last seen: September 15, 2018
• Released: Late March 2018 (Chapter 1 Season 3 Starter Pack)
• Price: 1,500 V-Bucks in the Item Shop
• Time in the Item Shop: one day

Rogue Agent is the rarest Fortnite Item Shop skin right now, and it has been just over eight years since it was last sold. It first launched in late March 2018 as Fortnite’s first Starter Pack, which cost about $5 and included the outfit, a back bling, and 600 V-Bucks.

Rogue Agent also has one regular Item Shop appearance, which is why it’s at the top of this list. On September 15, 2018, it showed up for 1,500 V-Bucks, which was roughly three times what the Starter Pack cost. That single day is its only V-Bucks listing and the reason why it’s on the list of the rarest Fortnite skins, unlike other Starter Packs.

Epic hasn’t forgotten about this skin, though. Rogue Agent received a LEGO style, and the Tactical Spade pickaxe from its Black Vector set was sold as recently as September 11, 2025. Still, there is no sign that the outfit itself is coming back, so Rogue Agent may hold the top spot for the foreseeable future.

Why Codename E.L.F., Wingman, and Starter Pack skins aren’t ranked

Codename E.L.F. technically has the oldest V-Bucks last-seen date of any outfit, as it was last sold on its own on January 31, 2018. However, Epic re-released it in the real-money Polar Legends Pack in December 2019 with a new Minty style, and players who already owned the skin received the style and 1,200 V-Bucks.

Wingman is a different case. It was only ever sold as a real-money Starter Pack in 2018 and has no V-Bucks Item Shop history at all. The same goes for other Starter Packs, Level Up Quest Packs, and challenge packs such as the Bassassin pack with Contract Giller, so we left them out.

Formerly rare Fortnite skins that have already returned

Every skin on this list could drop off at any moment, as Epic has brought back plenty of cosmetics after years of absence, which is why no list of the rarest skins in Fortnite stays accurate for long. Psycho Bandit is the best recent example, as it returned on April 29, 2025, after 1,794 days, and it has been back several times since.

Special Forces went more than four years without an appearance before returning on April 27, 2023. Recon Expert, which spent 927 days out of the shop between 2017 and 2020, is now a regular and was last sold on August 31, 2026.

In addition to these returns, Dummy Supreme and Championship Aura came back on May 30, 2026, which proved that FNCS skins aren’t permanently vaulted. Even Battle Pass skins aren’t fully exclusive anymore, as Epic started bringing back older Battle Pass skins in June 2026.
