As Helldivers 2 continues into its second year of live-service, Arrowhead confirms it’s working on some major changes. Following the announcement that the in-game SuperStore will show all items instead of weekly rotations, the developer is working on a brand-new Helldivers 2 store interface for players to use.
Confirmed in a discussion with fans on Discord, Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani confirmed that a new store is in the works. As usual, the CEO did not confirm a timeline for when players can expect the new store to appeal, but a new interface is in development.
When asked about improved monetisation in the foreseeable future, including “discounts or more SC [Super Credit] rewards for playing the game”, Jorjani explained that the new store is in the works. This means that a future iteration of the SuperStore, which sells weapons and armours, could support discounts on older items.
However, Jorjani explained that the addition of new features to the Helldivers 2 store isn’t easy. As with any feature planned for the game, there are a lot of underlying systems that need work. With that in mind, it may be a while until we see any improvements for the virtual marketplace.
“We have improvements planned for the store,” Jorjani said. “We had to rework our entire UI system to give us a more nimble store to work with.” The Arrowhead CEO has not explained what new features the store will actually entail, but it should allow the devs to do more with the SuperStore than they currently can.
While a specific date has not been set for the store improvements, Jorjani did reveal that it’s “finally taking shape”. The CEO claims this means there’s “more to come in the store”, telling fans to “stay tuned” for more details.
So far, the Helldivers 2 store has 25 “pages” of content of items based on prior Warbonds. Each item can be bought with the game’s premium currency, Super Credits, and cannot be earned in any other way. So far, there are no discounts or other items available in the store, but that does seem set to change.
While the store only supports Super Credits right now, it would be nice to see additional items that can be bought with Requisitions, or even by trading samples. As Arrowhead continues to work on “meaningful progression” updates, upgrading the in-game store to give players more options to grind for would be a great addition to the game.
With that said, Helldivers 2 has just launched a brand-new update. The game’s 6.2.2 update builds on the game’s ongoing Machinery of Oppression campaign, sending players to two-new biomes. Alongside the game’s Exo Experts Warbond, which adds two new mechs to the game, there’s a healthy amount of content for players to play through. Although, fans are still waiting for the aforementioned progression updates to come to the game.
