Aspyr Media’s Deus Ex Remastered immediately blasted for vile overhauled graphics riddled with typos – “can you unaugment my vision please?”

Deus Ex vs Deus Ex Remastered

,

Aspyr Media, the studio behind a number of Star Wars and Tomb Raider remasters, has announced Deus Ex Remastered. Coming to PC, PS5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch next year, the upcoming remaster brings back Ion Storm’s genre-defining RPG with new visuals, controls and other modernisations.

Confirmed during last night’s PlayStation State of Play, alongside new Wolverine gameplay and details for Saros, the new remaster immediately drew the annoyance of fans due to its, frankly, ugly face-lift that ruins the oppressive style of the original.

While Deus Ex Remastered may look technically more competent with higher quality textures and models, the new art style is an overly glowy, weirdly smooth take on the crunchy, dark original. “Can you un-augment my vision, please?” one fans said

Despite the trailer’s short run time, players have already noticed glaring issues with the upcoming remaster, which is scheduled to launch on February 5, 2026. In one shot, posters on a notice board spells the word “STRATEGIES” as “STRATIGIES”.

The remaster of the iconic PC RPG feels wrong, and everyone can feel the difference between the dingy, oppressive look of the original and the hyper-bright, specular-filled remaster. This quick-consumer feel is even plastered on the remaster’s new box art which replaces the iconic dark box art for something brighter and easier to sell.

Deus Ex Remastered’s trailer even features typos plastered over its new visuals.

“That Deus Ex “remaster” gets even the art direction for the box art wrong,” one fan said on social media. “How could you think this looks better? How could you not see how much more evocative the original is, JC’s humanity washed out by the cold, unfeeling blue light of the future?”

Aspyr Media’s remaster work has been mixed in the past with decent remasters of games, and many have expressed a wish that remaster legends Nightdive Studios were handling the new port instead.

“This thing is mad ugly I’m so sorry, we were robbed of Nightdive’s touch,” one fan said. “One can only imagine,” replied Nightdive Studios lead engine developer Samual Villarreal.
