Arrowhead Game Studios is seemingly preparing for a big December update for Helldivers 2 following a significant content drought for the game. Alongside continued updates and “many more months” of patches for the multiplayer co-op game, the studio is preparing to drop new content for the game.

Within the game’s new 4.1.2 patch notes for Helldivers 2, which brings huge optimisations to weather effects such as sandstorms and blizzards, Arrowhead teased the game’s next major update which should launch in December 2, 2025.

“We also kindly ask you to put a ‘fiery’ red circle around the date December 2 as we will have some ‘buzzing’ updates for you all!” the developer told fans on the game’s Steam blog and Discord server announcements channel.

The tease has immediately got fans talking about what Arrowhead could possibly be planning for Helldivers 2’s next major update. With the last big update, Into the Unjust, the studio added brand-new enemies, weapons, missions and maps to the game, but this will likely be a significantly smaller content drop.

With this in mind, we would expect a standard-sized Warbond for Helldivers 2 which will focus on some form of incendiary weapons, such as a new form of flame grenade, or an assault rifle with incendiary rounds to take out bugs with additional force.

On the other hand, the update could add some fire-themed enemies with one fan on the game’s subreddit guessing that “Cinderbees” could be added. Considering how terrifying being put on fire in HD2 can be in the midst of battle, adding more ways to get set alight will probably annoy quite a lot of fans.

Helldivers 2 has been met with a rocky few months, and fans are still waiting for key fixes and a massive reduction in file size for the game’s PC version. While the game has been hit with a lot of issues as of late, the game is still doing well with PlayStation praising the game for its continued success as Destiny 2 proves problematic for them.
