Marvel Rivals Season 6 is off to a perfect start. For the first time since May 2025, the game has achieved a peak of nearly 200,000 concurrent players on Steam. The hero shooter is doing great on other platforms as well, and it’s apparent that the addition of Deadpool was the right move.

Unfortunately, the new season has a couple of glaring issues. Even though releasing Deadpool was great, NetEase made it almost impossible to ban him. On top of this, players who enjoy Quick Play now have another issue to deal with, as the Marvel Rivals developer made it harder to distinguish bots from real players.

Marvel Rivals has drastically changed bot lobbies in the new season

Marvel Rivals players have complained about bots for a long time. Whenever they lose two or three games in a row, the game puts them in a bot lobby, which is far from competitive. This practice has been even worse lately, as some players entered these lobbies after a single loss.

Season 6 has made this feature a lot worse. In the past, all bots wore default costumes and had no nameplates. Now, things have changed, and telling the difference between a real player and a bot is much harder.

Many players have called the new feature deceptive, as bots now wear different costumes and have nameplates with account levels. However, it’s unlikely that NetEase will change this.

If you perform unusually well after a couple of losses in Marvel Rivals, that’s a good indicator that you are in a bot lobby. In these lobbies, you will usually dominate the enemy team and prevent it from moving a few meters away from the spawn point. Furthermore, you will also have a couple of bots on your team, and they will pick fill roles to make sure that your team has two support heroes and two tanks.

The line between real and “fake” players has been blurred, and it’s unlikely that it will ever change. NetEase seemingly considers bots to be an important part of quick matches in Marvel Rivals, which doesn’t sit well with many players. After all, the game has a separate mode that only features bots, so adding them to quick games is a bit too much.

If you haven’t caught up with all the changes yet, make sure to check the patch notes before getting into your first match. The new season has brought many new cosmetics, some of which are free, allowing you to unlock free skins in Marvel Rivals. You can also unlock free cosmetics using Marvel Rivals codes.
