Saber Interactive’s Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is officially coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.
Announced alongside The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake, Xenoblade Genesis, Kingdom Hearts IV and more in the latest Nintendo Direct, the brilliant action game will be playable on the handheld. (Check out everything announced in the Direct right here.)
Launching later this year, the entirety of the frenetic and brutal third-person shooter will be playable on the device. Saber notes that a number of optimisations have been made to bring the game to life on the handheld.
Alongside bringing the full game and all its content to the handheld, the game will benefit from full cross-play. This means that players on the handheld will be able to play the game alongside PC, PS5, and Xbox Series players.
While not confirmed, it does look like Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is making use of DLSS on Nintendo Switch 2. While the game is playable on Valve’s Steam Deck, it looks quite rough on that handheld whereas it looks mostly decent on the Nintendo side. This would lead us to assume that DLSS upscaling, which isn’t possible on Deck, is in use here.
Alongside coming to Nintendo Switch 2, Saber has a lot more in the works for Space Marine 2. While the team also works on Space Marine 3, a full third year of new free content is coming to the second game.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been a huge success for Saber. The game has seen over 14 million players since launch and shows no sign of stopping. With a new audience on Nintendo Switch 2, it’s clear that there’s still a lot of potential left for the awesome 40K game.
