Casey Hudson’s Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic studio Arcanaut Studios has gone on another hiring spree. After nabbing Avatar and Assassin’s Creed artist Pascal Blanché, the new RPG has grabbed a slew of new writers for the project.
Announced at December 2025’s The Game Awards, Fate of the Old Republic is currently in early active development at Arcanaut Studios. While “still in the early stages of development and creation”, project lead Casey Hudson plans for the RPG to release sometime before 2030 on current-gen hardware.
Following the Summer Games Fest hype, a number of veteran developers have joined the RPG project as development continues. Alongside hiring renowned sci-fi novelist Jenny ‘J.S’ Dewes to help pen the upcoming game, the upcoming Star Wars game has grabbed veteran games writer Tony Elias to work as the game’s narrative director.
Elias’ past works are extensive. In the past, the writer worked on Monolith Productions’ Middle-Earth: Shadow of War as well as the sadly scrapped Wonder Woman game. The narrative director also worked on Remedy Entertainment’s sorely underrated Quantum Break and worked alongside Casey Hudson on the scrapped Humanoid Origin.
Most interestingly, the writer has also helped pen the in-development Cyberpunk 2, which has been in development for around a year-and-a-half. After working on the upcoming game—which now has 150 developers working on it—Elias has joined Arcanaut to work as Fate of the Old Republic’s narrative director.
“Happy to share that I’ve joined Arcanaut Studios as Narrative Director!” the writer told fans on LinkedIn. “I’ll be working with Casey Hudson and a wonderful team of new and familiar faces on Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic — the spiritual successor to KOTOR.”
At the time of writing, there are around 50 developers working on Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic. Alongside the new writers, the game studio has seen the addition of level designers, animators, and much more. For example, Dragon Age veteran Eric Wong is currently serving as the game’s senior environment artist alongside Mass Effect, Dragon Age and Nightingale veteran Glenn Mayer as the game’s technical/gameplay designer.
Of course, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic is still in very early development, and it will likely be a long while until we see more of it. With that said, there are a large number of other Star Wars games in development right now, including a remake of Knights of the Old Republic by Saber Interactive.
Additionally, this year, the awesome-looking Star Wars: Galactic Racer is set to launch in October with the tactical Star Wars: Zero Company set to launch on August 27th. As always, if you’re into games, it’s a great time to be a Star Wars fan.
