Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone appears to be cooking another large update for the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.7 update.
Currently in development with a new team, the upcoming Stardew Valley update shouldn’t take too much development time away from Barone’s next game, Haunted Chocolatier… but it might.
Speaking to fans on Twitter, Barone confirmed that the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.7 patch will include the same expected stuff as prior updates. The indie developer confirmed that there “will be some more character/social stuff” for players to enjoy, as well as a “new farm type”.
While the game’s next major update was teased to be a small addition, it seems to have already blossomed into something larger. Barone teased that there’s “lots more” coming in the update alongside the new farm type and social content, but they “don’t want to reveal much yet”.
Essentially, it seems that the next major Stardew update will be following the same trend as its predecessors. While Barone typically announces updates as small additions, they have consistently become huge by the time they actually release.
While the developer did give players some new information on what the farming game’s next update will include, there is still no release date. Speaking to fans back in September, Barone told fans that there’s “”no release date, no estimate, but it’s happening”. That appears to still be the case.
Additionally, Barone has been keen to keep players’ hype in check following the reaction to previous updates. Despite offering substantial free updates, some Stardew players have responded negatively due to updates not having features that were never confirmed in the first place.
Speaking to fans on Twitter back in September, Barone explained that they “just don’t want too much hype at this point. It’s going to be a while before the update is ready”. So, while every fan holds out for any information regarding the Stardew Valley 1.7 update, try not to spend too much time imagining what it will actually include.
