Saber Interactive have fixed the biggest issue plaguing Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 since launch: its busted netcode.
While many casual have not noticed the issue, Space Marine 2 has suffered from numerous netcode issues since launch. In some cases, this can cause connection issues, but the main pain point for the game has been a netcode damage cap that limited the accuracy of damage in operations and PvP.
In the patch notes for the game’s 11.0 Reclamation Update, Saber Interactive confirmed that they have increased the damage cap, although the team admitted that this open “a huge can of worms for gameplay balancing” as everything prior was balanced around the existing cap.
“But it has to be done,” the team explained. “The game damage numbers should not be restricted by net code and should be accurate all of the time. We will be monitoring which builds and perks combinations will become problematic. It’s pretty clear that some damage buffs combinations from multiple sources are already insane (looking at you Blocking Power Fist). For now, have fun.”
This isn’t the only addition to the Reclamation update. In fact, 11.0 is a huge addition to the game with the update bringing the titular Reclamation Operation map which tasks players with exploring a damaged Imperial cruiser infested with Tyranids above the planet Avarax.
The update adds 6 new heroic weapons to unlock: Retribution’s Bequest; Chains of Duty; Wrapped; Wrapped; Death’s Grasp; and Storm’s Dominion. Additionally, there are 8 new heroic armour pieces to work for including the gorgeous Mark VII Helm.
Furthermore, Assault players now have an additional set of Jump Pack Dash attacks that are quicker and more responsive, and are also affected by every perk that affects sprint.
For fans of the game that main Chaos armour sets, Saber Interactive has also finally added PvP Chaos Customisation that will allow you to make your characters more distinct. While this has been a highly requested feature since launch, Saber confirmed that there were some restrictions that stopped them from being able to offer customisation on those specific characters. Also, now, bots also use player class customisations to add more uniqueness to matches.
While Saber still works on Space Marine 3, which won’t be seen for a number of years, it’s exciting to see just how much additional content has come to the current game. While Saber may not make the best-of-the-best games, they definitely do support them for a long, long time.
