With the Marvel Rivals Season 8 release date around the corner, NetEase has revealed most of the content coming with it. While the highlight of the upcoming update is Devil Dinosaur, a new Vanguard, the game developer has also revealed several quality-of-life improvements arriving on Friday. One of the biggest additions is a major optimization feature PC players have wanted for months.

One of the biggest problems Marvel Rivals has faced is the game’s enormous file size. Fortunately, NetEase is looking to tackle this issue by reducing the client size in Season 8. PC players will be able to significantly lower the size of the game, and hopefully, this feature will eventually make its way to consoles as well.

Marvel Rivals will once again reduce the game size

With Season 8 launching in less than 48 hours, NetEase has revealed details about the upcoming PC optimization update. As part of it, the developer will make high-resolution textures a separate download. Players who choose not to install them will be able to save around 20 to 35 GB of storage space. NetEase has also clarified that this is entirely optional.

With the initial download of Marvel Rivals, every PC player will automatically get access to the high-resolution textures. However, this can be disabled in the game settings, which is recommended for players who use lower graphical settings. Furthermore, the developer recommends trying this option for anyone playing at 1080p or 1440p resolutions.

Considering that Marvel Rivals currently takes up around 120 GB on PC in Season 7.5, this feature is going to be a lifesaver for many players. Once Season 8 goes live, this feature will be activated for all PC players, though there is no word yet on console support.

This is not the first time that NetEase has optimized the game size. Unfortunately, the game’s size has steadily increased over the past few months, which has become a big issue, especially for those running on low space. With NetEase releasing a new Marvel Rivals hero every month, it could eventually exceed 200 GB without further optimization.

While waiting for the new feature, check out all the buffs and nerfs coming in Marvel Rivals Season 8. The season will bring many new cosmetics, including more summer skins. In addition, you can unlock a couple of free cosmetics using Marvel Rivals codes.
