Deadpool’s fourth-wall breaking Marvel Rivals lines hint at a “hero that shouldn’t be there”

Deadpool’s official release in Marvel Rivals is less than 24 hours away. For now, several content creators have had an opportunity to try him out, and unsurprisingly, he is very fun. Not only can Deadpool play in any of the three roles in Marvel Rivals, but his ability to break the fourth wall remains unmatched.

In his interaction with Moon Knight, the new Marvel Rivals hero refers to Batman. Yes, you read that right. Even though Batman is a DC hero, who may never come to Marvel’s hero shooter, Deadpool refers to him in the newest update.

Unlike Deadpool, Batman is not a Marvel hero, which is why his addition to the hero shooter is almost impossible. However, the two comic book characters both appeared in a Deadpool/Batman (or Batman/Deadpool) crossover in 2025. These one-shot issues were published by both Marvel and DC, which is precisely what the new character refers to.

In his interaction with Moon Knight, another caped hero, Deadpool refers to teaming up with someone who also has a “sweet cape, fancy gadgets, grim demeanor, long pointy ears.” “Sounds like a cheap knock-off to me,” Moon Knight responds, only to get a sarcastic response from Deadpool.

While the two comic book publishers collaborated in late 2025, it’s unlikely that Batman will ever come to Marvel Rivals. However, it’s interesting to note that the original 1939 version of Batman will enter the public domain in 2034. Even then, though, Marvel would need permission to add him to the hero shooter.

The truth is that Marvel Rivals doesn’t need Batman. Considering the rich lore that Marvel has, there are plenty of characters to add over the next few hundred years. In addition to this, NetEase was given a green light to add original characters to Marvel Rivals, so we expect a few of those to be released in 2026.

Deadpool will arrive on Friday, so make sure to check Marvel Rivals Season 6 patch notes and all the buffs and nerfs before you try him out. You can also unlock free Marvel Rivals skins for Magneto and Iron Man, which won’t be available in the new season. If you need more free cosmetics, you can use Marvel Rivals codes to quickly add them to your account.
