Epic Games has announced massive Fortnite Crew changes that will end monthly Crew skins but reward subscribers with more V-Bucks and an XP boost. The overhaul goes live on Saturday, December 5, and the subscription price stays at $11.99 per month. However, the December Crew Pack will be the last one with an exclusive outfit, which is a big loss for collectors.
The changes were revealed in an official post on the Fortnite website on November 4. Epic is bringing back the 1,000 V-Bucks base grant, which dropped to 800 in June, and adding loyalty tiers that pay up to 1,600 V-Bucks per month. On top of this, every subscriber will earn 20% more XP, and even friends without Crew get a bonus.
Fortnite Crew tiers give up to 1,600 V-Bucks per month
Starting December 5, Fortnite Crew will have four tiers based on how long you stay subscribed. These are not paid upgrades, as Epic places you in a tier automatically and the V-Bucks amount grows the longer your subscription stays active. Here are all the new Fortnite Crew tiers:
| Tier | Consecutive months subscribed | Monthly V-Bucks |
|---|---|---|
| Core | One to two | 1,000 |
| Bronze | Three to five | 1,200 |
| Silver | Six to 11 | 1,400 |
| Gold | 12 or more | 1,600 |
Current subscribers won’t start from zero. Epic will place them in a tier based on their consecutive months of Crew over the last 12 months, so anyone subscribed since December 2025 goes straight to Gold. Players who cancelled earlier and resubscribe between December 5 and December 31 will also get a tier that reflects their most recent continuous subscription.

To put this into perspective, the $8.99 V-Bucks pack has only given 800 V-Bucks since Epic raised prices in March. Gold members will get double that amount every month for $11.99, which makes staying subscribed far more rewarding than it was a few months ago.
Fortnite Crew is losing monthly skins and the OG Pass
Crew Pack outfits have been the main selling point of the subscription since Galaxia arrived in December 2020. Epic kept these skins exclusive to subscribers, and none of them ever appeared in the Item Shop. Unfortunately, that era ends after the December Crew Pack, as Epic will not release any new Crew outfits.
The good news is that Epic isn’t leaving collectors empty-handed. In December, every player who owns a Crew skin will receive all of its available Legacy Styles, even without an active subscription. These styles first arrived in October 2023 and previously required several months of Crew to unlock.
The new XP boost gives Crew members 20% more XP, while party members without Crew earn 10% more when playing with a subscriber. The Crew XP boost leak from June pointed to three tiers ranging from 5% to 20%, but Epic went with a flat 20% for every member. In addition to this, Epic confirmed that the OG Pass ends in December, with the next era of Fortnite OG planned for late 2027.
Is Fortnite Crew worth it after the December changes?
For players who buy V-Bucks regularly, the answer is now an easy yes. Crew still includes the Battle Pass, Music Pass, LEGO Pass and Rocket Pass Premium, and even the base 1,000 V-Bucks beat what the $8.99 pack offers. However, collectors who subscribed for the exclusive outfits are losing the one perk that money couldn’t buy anywhere else.

Fortnite Crew isn’t a worse deal, but it’s a different one. The subscription is turning from a monthly skin club into a loyalty program for regular players, which makes sense considering how often Epic adjusted the economy this year. Still, if you only subscribe for a few weeks each season, the tier system will reward you far less than someone who never cancels.
In the meantime, don’t forget to claim the final Crew Pack in December if you want one last exclusive outfit. Before the XP boost arrives, you can level up faster with the best Fortnite XP map codes.
